Message I sure did not know that, I thought code 21 for PTU failure, so this is most helpful. I guess you have to take the codes sheets with a grain of salt. Well, I have the new PTU on the way from Courtesy Nissan Parts, which seems like a very good outfit, reasonable price, original equipment, reasonable shipping and good communications.

It is great to have understanding. I feel a lot better driving the car knowing about it. If it just started working again, I'd be a bit unnerved. I'd rather have some insight, otherwise always worry about it dying while out there.

thanks again,
this car is a stretch for me. I bought it from Colt, and am really happy with it, despite all the learning curves I've been on, and it's still in need of some work, but just driving it around a bit, it's better than an anti-depressant! :)
I'll get some fresh photos (I had an accident awhile back from wrong tires in the rain (g-forces around 40 degrees on wet road, I replaced with Eagle F1 all-seasons, great traction) and did some repairs, new front urethane black, I need some fresh shots for the rides section).

:No surprise there is a code stored, the engine just shut down.
:There is no specific ECU code for PTU failure. If you try and start the engine over and over (like you would after a PTU failure) you could get a code 11 for CAS because of possible loss of 1 deg and 120 deg signal, but it will toss that code even for almost dead battery too.
:Either way, if it did this before and after the alarm install, sounds like the PTU may be bad.
